The Seven Summits are the highest mountain on each of the seven continents. Climbing all of them is one of mountaineering's classic challenges. Here is the full list, tallest to smallest, and where I am on it.
Everest, 8,848 m, Asia. To go.
Aconcagua, 6,961 m, South America. Done.
Denali, 6,194 m, North America. Done.
Kilimanjaro, 5,895 m, Africa. Done.
Elbrus, 5,642 m, Europe. Done.
Vinson, 4,892 m, Antarctica. To go.
Kosciuszko, 2,228 m, Australia. Done.
Five down, two to go: Everest and Vinson.
One note on the list. The Australia peak is debated: some climbers count Carstensz Pyramid in Oceania, 4,884 m, instead of Kosciuszko. I have a separate piece on that, and on the version I call the Nine Summits.
